Hi Bonnie,
I dont know how everyone else feels about this subject but my feeling is that if there are spirits in a cemetary they will be there any day, not just on Memorial Day or more so on a holiday. If they are there, chances are it may be a residual haunting & they wont neccesarily be affected by dates, time etc. they will be there replaying a moment in their life, like a movie, over & over again & not be affected by the surroundings.
Great question!

Memorial Day, AKA Decoration Day has been around for more than 100 years.  It is a day where people honor the lives of soldiers who died defending our country.  Although many living people pay their respects at cemeteries on this day, I personally don't feel that spirits do the same.  First off, I personally don't feel that spirits have concept of time.  With this being so I don't think that they would necessarily realize what day it was.  Secondly, I think the spirits may be more inclined to visit either the place where they passed, or where they may have lived as a human.  I don't really think they would have a strong attachment to a cemetery, and therefore wouldn't "hang around".  But that is just my own opinion.

Agreed, activity at a cemetery may actually be centered around an attachment type haunting rather than any other type of haunting.  People are usually buried with some of their most prized possession or at least their favorite ones.

As far as it being Memorial Day weekend.  This should not have an effect on activity particularly a cemetery.  Now maybe human emotion from families visiting their loved ones could provide a little stimulus, but I wouldn’t think it would increase activity significantly over any other time.

Now battlefields could be a different stories if there are actors portraying a particular event where people died.

Thanks for your input about my question.  I respect your groups opinions about spirits/ghosts.  I must say I was hoping that the reply would be, yes, because they are checking out who is visiting thier grave site.
